The cooperative model in health, a humanist choice!
Coopératice de Solidarité Espace-Temps is consisted since August 8th, 2006.
It is the 22nd cooperative clinic in health in Quebec et one of the 8 new cooperative clinic in health consisted in 2006. It is also the first specialised clinic consisted into the cooperative model.
The cooperative awards no bonus and pays no interest on the shares issued to members, giving it a non-profit status.
Objective
To operate a business, to provide jobs for its members and workers or goods and services to its users, in the field of neuro-developmental disorders, while grouping individuals and corporations with a common economical, social or cultural interest.
(a) Mission
The Espace-Temps's mission is to improve access to quality therapeutic services, based on solid scientific fundamentals and the expertise of health-care professionals which compose the team, for clients who suffer from neuro-developmental disorders.
(b) Member statements
Members of the Coopérative de solidarité Espace-Temps adhere to the statement on the cooperative identity, adopted by the International Cooperative Alliance in Manchester, in 1995, (http://www.gdrc.org/icm/coop-principles.html) whose principals are:
- Voluntary and open to all
- Democratic member control
- Economic cooperation
- Autonomy and independence
- Education, training and information
- Cooperation among cooperatives
- Commitment to the community
The 3 Types of Members
1- User:
Client: An individual, organization, or entity using the services offered by a producer member of the cooperative.
Producer: An individual, organization, or entity using the services offered by the cooperative to sell its services, in connection with the mission of the cooperative. Each new member shall not engage in any activity, which competes with the members already present. Acceptance as a member is subject to the board of directors.
2- Worker:
An individual (who has the status of employee) can provide any kind of administrative work for the cooperative.
3- Support:
A corporation, an individual, or a company, that has substantial economic, social, or cultural aptitude, in achieving the purpose of the cooperative and who share the mission of the cooperative.
Mandatory qualification requirements:
Producer: 100 shares of ten dollars ($10) each, ($1000).
User: 4 shares of ten dollars ($10) each, ($40).
Worker: 10 shares of ten dollars ($10) each, ($100).
Support:10 shares of ten dollars ($10) each, ($100).
