MY JOURNEY:

It was during my training as a biologist with marine mammals and then as Animal Assisted therapist, that I learnt to better understand myself and understand others in developing such empathy and congruence. With this understanding, I learnt to act as caregiver to people suffering both physically and mentally.

To achieve this, I have done an introspective for me to meet my needs, to respect my limits, be authentic and, therefore, to develop my sensitive understanding. I worked from September 2008 until June 2009, as a Animal Assisted volunteer with people with pervasive developmental disorders (autism), people with intellectual disabilities, persons diagnosed manic-depressive people with Alzheimer’s and a pre-teen suffering from a disorder of attention deficit without hyperactivity. All these experiences have greatly enriched my knowledge and raised my social awareness. I learned to respect my rhythm and that of my patients, to accept their differences and thereby entered into real relationships. I also put in daily practice, my ability to understand myself and others through my teaching profession.

I have been a professor at a college, teaching biology, for four years, after obtaining an MA and a Ph.D. in biology. Being a teacher requires good listening and a good understanding of his students as well as adaptability. I am an individual who allows myself to develop a bond with my patients and a real relationship of trust is thus created. I try to show them that nothing is impossible, that the realization of our dreams is accessible with determination and will, increase the esteem they have of themselves and break their isolation.

Furthermore, during the summer of 2009, I was received as a student intern, in a therapy center assisted by dolphins for children with autism in Eilat (Israel), then to another facility in Florida for the summer of 2010. (Dolphin Island Care). Also, I left in December 2010 for Antarctica for a month as an Animal Assisted therapist naturalist invited by the cruise ship company Le Ponant. The tools I developed as an animal Assisted therapist for me are invaluable.

Today, I help meet the needs of the people I encounter in pet therapy and family is my true passion. I say even a vocation (family).
